Phase 3!

By Nithin Coca

Finally!

Months after Ryan, Mike, Ryan, and Aaron, I have also finally solidified my initial itinerary. I booked my ticket to Europe, to begin the first leg of our trip.

Details (also check out Budget - my first read trip purchase!)

March 23rd, 2006 (one month before Ryan and Aaron, 2 months before Mike and Brandle)
MCI - ORD - Frankfurt Germany, to Rome Italy on Lufthansa.

Why Rome? Well, my brother, Ashvin, is going to be spending a semester in Florence, Italy, this coming Spring. So me and my parents are going to visit him. We will be going first to Rome, then to Florence, and then to Milan, where they will fly home and I will continue to explore Italy for another three weeks before hopping on a cheap flight to Madrid. My parents booked their tickets using Frequent Flyer Miles, while I booked a concurrent flight from StudentUniverse (still pretending to be a student). I could have flown for cheaper on Aer Lingus or Scandinavian Airlines, but, my parents were willing to foot the extra cost to have me on the same flight as them. That is factored into the budget.

It's good to finally have a date. Today is Nov 30th, 2005. That means, in less than 4 months, I will be in Europe!

woops

it appears if i was to look around the site before my post i would have known about the tenative date/location list... oh well i figure word to your mother or something

I have arrived

I would just like to say my arrival here in this blog is quite the experience. Mainly I was bored and tired but wanted to check it before the sleep time. However, I do think we need a tentative schedule of dates up here so that we can start telling the people where we will be around specific dates. Also all of the festivals and other things we want to go to should be posted here asap. If you are aware of any kind of great websites or books that talk about backpacking i'd also like a look see. That's it for now, but next time maybe i'll make an actual contribution to the site...

Quiet

By Nithin Coca

Nothing much to report on. Progress is happening, but with 5 months remaining, we don't yet have that sense of urgency. I should book my ticket most likely over Thanksgiving Break when we figure out exactly what we are going to do.
